trackerAn early season for Yukon contractors translates to benefits for smaller Yukon companies. Yukon contractors benefit from the government's decision to pass the capital budget early.


In answer to popular request, the Assay Coupon Program is returning to the territory. The Government of Yukon re-instated the program to promote prospecting and mineral activities. Prospectors can obtain up to 10 coupons to help with the cost of assays.


The Canada/Yukon Geoscience Office is celebrating is 10th anniversary this year. For ten years, scientists from two governments have been studying the land and unearthing clues to the geology of the Yukon. Watch for special events celebrating the 10th anniversary during the Geoscience Forum in November.

children at a computerComputer Camp is a popular summer activity for kids aged eight to 15. It provides a great opportunity to learn about computer programs and games, while gaining physical skills such as the javelin throw, the golf drive and the perfect frisbee toss.

Do you own a "Klondike Big Inch"? In the 1950s, Quaker Harvest Oats ran a promotional campaign in which the cereal company offered deeds for one square inch of Yukon land in boxes of Puffed Rice and Puffed Wheat.

picture of teachers at summer school Summer school isn't just for kids. Every summer many Yukon teachers go back to school. There they learn new skills and techniques that they bring back to their classrooms in the fall. But just because it's school doesn't mean it can't be fun!

The Alaska Highway is shrinking. In rebuilding sections of the original highway, crews have taken out bends and curves that have reduced the length of the highway by 50 kilometres. That means the kilometre signposts along the highway are now out of whack.

An old van is back on the streets and hard at work. The No Fixed Address Outreach van offers coffee and snacks; counselling and support; emergency transport; sexual health information and products for folks after normal working hours.


Is it possible to have too much information? The Women's Directorate has added, analyzed, revisited and weighed all the information it gathered in the A Cappella North 2 survey and has come up against one undeniable fact: we have a lot of information!
